Travel
Hockey - Program Summary
The Travel Hockey program is State
Select League teams which compete in RIAHA
games in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts. Teams compete in age
classified divisions as governed by USA
Hockey's standard. Divisions are further classified into levels
between A and C to provide players the opportunity to compete against
teams of equal skill. This
program will strive to successfully aid in the development of
all
participants in the sport of hockey.
Development of fundamental and advanced skills will be stressed
and
reinforced throughout the year. All
practices are held
between the Cranston Veterans
Memorial Ice Rink in Cranston, RI and the West Warwick Ice Arena West
Warwick, RI. This
program will consist of skills clinics,
team
practices
and
games. All skaters are dressed in full hockey equipment. The primary objective of the program is to
develop;
- Advanced puck handling, carrying and control skills
- Strengthening forward and backward skating and puck skills
- Edge control, hockey starts, stops and lateral movement
- Strengthening passing, set-up and shooting techniques

Strengthening skills in full ice zones, rules, and game play
