Hockey Registration FAQ’s

 

Q. How do I know which level my child should be playing in? (Mites, Squirts, Pee Wee, etc)

 

A. Classifications are broken out by age, consult the Age Classification chart to see which group your child belongs in.

 

Q. Should my child play house league or travel hockey?

 

A. Travel hockey is a more intense program where children will develop their potential skills by playing competitive games within RI and near by MA. Players are evaluated and placed on teams that match their abilities. They will play teams within their division to ensure competitive games.

 

Q. Do I need to register with USA Hockey before I register with CLCF?

 

A. Yes.  Follow the link from the CLCF Registration Page to the USA Hockey Registration site. Register online with them and then forward your receipt e-mail to the CLCF Registrar. Print a copy of your registration receipt and include it with your CLCF Registration Package.

 

Q. If my child is registering for learn to skate/instructional program do they need full hockey equipment?

 

A. No. The only required equipment is a helmet. Gloves and warm clothing are recommended for warmth.  As children progress through the instructional program you will be advised as to when hockey equipment will be required. You may want to review the program descriptions at the CLCF website.
